What won the race: Regaining control with a turn-three slide job by Jadon Frame on the fifth lap, polesitter Sam Seawright of Rainsville, Ala., led the rest of Saturday's 40-lap Southern All Star Series presented by Showtime Properties feature at Duck River Raceway Park. Seawright beat Jay Scott by 2.074 seconds for the $5,000 payday, his second career SAS victory and second overall win of the 2026 season.
Quotable: “I didn’t really know where to go there at the start. I naturally went to the top, cause I figured that’s where I needed to be, but Jadon (Frame) got by me on the bottom, so I had to get back up on it and get by him on the bottom,” Seawright said. “I just felt like I was killing too much time down there, but on the restarts, I felt like I was leaving the door open a lot entering on the top. I knew if I could just back the corner up enough, I could cross over if someone was to get beside and slide me.”
Key notes: Seawright led twice for 37 laps (1, 5-40) en route to his second career SAS victory, his first since June 18, 2022, at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Ala. ... It's his second win of the season, adding to his repeat triumph in Jan. 3's Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala. ... Seawright now has 11 career Duck River victories since the fall of 2019, earning more than $61,500 over that span. ... Seawright, who finished second Friday at Buckshot Speedway in Clanton, Ala., nearly made it a weekend sweep for Coltman Farms Racing after teammate Luke Morey won Friday at Princeton (W.Va.) Speedway and Saturday at Beckley (W.Va.) Motor Speedway. ... Third-starting Jadon Frame slipped underneath Seawright out of turn two and led laps 2-4 before Seawright slid back by on the fifth lap. Frame held second until Dillard Hatchett's attempted slide job went awry on lap 10, sending both drivers hard into the turn-three wall and ending their nights. ... Kyle Strickler briefly held the runner-up spot on the lap-10 restart until Jay Scott and 11th-starting Todd Morrow took him three-wide on a lap-22 restart, relegating Strickler to fourth. ... Points leader Tucker Anderson placed 12th, the first finisher one lap down. ... Besides the lap-10 crash that eliminated Frame and Hatchett, the 40-lapper was slowed by four other incidents, the first coming on lap six when Matt Cooper, Jack Franklin and Clint Nichols tangled while battling in the back-end of the top 10; Cooper and Franklin retired while Nichols was eliminated on an ensuing restart crash that also ended Grayson Brewer's night. ... Seventh-running David Seibers came up limp out of turn four to trigger the third stoppage on lap nine; he continued until retiring from 14th on the 28th lap. ... Brayden Skinner required a tow back to the pits after slamming the turn-three wall for the fifth and final yellow flag on lap 22. ... The race lasted 31 minutes and ended just before 11:30 p.m. local time.
On the move: Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, Tenn., started 17th and finished fifth.
