What won the race: Leading all 40 laps, Kyle Hardy of Stephens City, Va., won on the Jay's Automotive United Late Model Series at Path Valley Speedway for the third time in four years, collecting $7,000. Hardy ran virtually unchallenged in taking the checkers 2.804 seconds ahead sixth-starting Jason Covert with polesitter and fellow front-row starter Rick Eckert in third.
Quotable: "The car was flawless. I could drive straight and had a really close call there with lapped cars and they split and wrecked," Hardy said. "Man, if it's your night, it's your night. Just so close to getting in an accident there. Just thankfully we didn't. I just can't say enough about this place. It got slick and slow like I like it and my package works good there."
Key notes: Kyle Hardy also grabbed ULMS victories at Path Valley in 2023-24 (he has seven overall ULMS victories in his career). ... Hardy notched his sixth Super Late Model victory of the season. ... The $7,000 was his season's biggest payday, eclipsing the $6,091 he earned June 20 in Winchester (Va.) Speedway's Jimmy Spence Memorial. ... Runner-up Jason Covert took the second spot from Rick Eckert on the 19th lap. ... Three cautions slowed the race, the first for a slowing Ryan Payne on the sixth lap (Trent Merkel spun on the attempted restart). ... On the 20th lap, Justin Weaver rolled to a stop in turn four. ... J.T. Spence and Spike Moore tangled on the 32nd lap; Spence ended up facing the wrong way in turn one. ... The 20-minute feature concluded at 11:08 p.m. ... The three highest-finishing drivers utilizing a Limited Late Model engine received $100.
On the move: Runner-up Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., started sixth.
Winner's sponsors: Hardy's Hurley Motorsports Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Red Rock Title, Xceptional Wildlife Removal, Poske's Performance Parts, GOAT, Northern Eagle, Spriggs Distributing and Integra Shocks.
