What won the race: After slipping back early and pitting for bumper repairs, fast qualifier Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., rallied back into contention Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway and captured a $20,000 World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory. The outside front-row starter went under polesitter Jonathan Davenport on the 50th lap and led the rest of the 60-lapper for his fifth career WoO triumph. O'Neal, who restarted 19th on lap 26, took the checkers 0.983 of a second ahead of 17th-starting Bobby Pierce while Davenport settled for third after leading 44 laps.

Quotable: “It’s unbelievable,” O’Neal said. “I would have never thought in a million years that after we pitted like that we were gonna be able to drive up through there, but man, was Magnolia on point tonight. It raced its tail off.”

Key notes: O'Neal, whose full-time ride is with SSI Motorsports, drove the Rumley Engineering No. 6 to victory; the team recovered from engine problems that forced them to scratch from Friday's action. ... The left-front bumper O'Neal's team repaired during a midrace caution after O'Neal clipped an infield tire barrier nearly tripped him up again late after he hit a tire barrier for a second time late in the distance. The bumper was dragging severely when he rolled to victory lane. ... Davenport led the first 17 laps and gave up the point when he moved to the high groove; fellow Georgian Dale McDowell muscled past in turn three to lead laps 18-21, but Davenport made the high side work exiting turn two to go back ahead on lap 22. ... McDowell faded to 14th and retired after 37 laps. ... Ashton Winger dove under Davenport in turn one to lead the 39th lap after a restart, but Davenport went back ahead a lap later; Winger ended up sixth. ... Sam Seawright ran as high as third but slipped back before drawing a lap-41 caution. ... Six other cautions slowed the feature, the first on the sixth lap for a frontstretch tangle between Dustin Sorenson and Todd Morrow. ... A lap-26 caution appeared for a slowing Tristan Chamberlain. ... On the 28th lap, Cade Dillard ended up sideways on the frontstretch. ... Fourth-running Drake Troutman showed smoke before retiring after 37 laps. ... Chamberlain drew another yellow on lap 44 with a broken driveshaft. ... On the 47th lap, Ryan Gustin slowed with a flat; Ethan Dotson pitted during the slowdown after apparently dropping fluids.
