Rayfield earns $5,000 for Malden Fastrak victory

MALDEN, Mo. (April 19-20) — Polesitter Shawn Rayfield of O'Fallon, Mo., led all 75 laps at Malden Speedway for a $5,000 victory on the Fastrak Racing Series Midwest Region. Joey Mack of Benton, Mo., finished second followed by Billy James of Sikeston, Mo., winner of the Fastrak Midwest opener the previous weekend at West Plains (Mo.) Motor Speedway. Rayfield, last year's champion at Montgomery Motor Speedway in New Florence, Mo., was the fifth fastest among 25 qualifiers then won a heat race to earn the feature's pole position. Nick Lyons of Centralia, Ill., lowered the track record with a 16.239-second lap (topping the best-ever Super Late Model time, as well), but he managed only an 11th-place finish in the main event.
