What won the race: Capturing his second Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series victory in as many days, Shane Sabraski of Rice, Minn., used a lap-22 restart to charge from fourth and triumph in Friday’s 32nd annual WISSOTA Classic at Grand Rapids (Minn.) Speedway. Sabraski led the final 18 of 40 laps and beat Billy Kendall by 3.152 seconds for the $3,000 payday.

Quotable: "I was kind of following Billy around the bottom there. I knew my only shot was to try the outside like he did to get the lead there. It worked for us," Sabraski said in victory lane. "Just got lucky. ... We had our other car out at the start of the year, and we brought our older one out and it's been really good."

Speedway for a $4,000 victory in the 54th annual Silver 1000, collected his eighth career victory with the WISSOTA Challenge Series and 11th overall on the season. … Polesitter Cory Crapser of Chippewa Falls, Wis., led the opening 10 laps and built a nearly two-second advantage before a lap-eight caution erased it. Second-starting Billy Kendall of Walker, Minn., used the outside lane to overtake Crapser on lap 11 and held serve until lap 22, when Sabraski powered around Kendall on the top side shortly after a restart. ... Crapser’s night took a nosedive on lap 27 when he spun while looking underneath Mahder in turns one and two during their battle for third. He finished as the last car on the lead lap in 15th. … A nine-car pileup on the opening lap triggered a roughly 10-minute red flag and required at least three tow trucks to clear the wreckage. Fifth-starting Zach Wohlers lost control of his No. 71 off turn two and spun in front of the field, collecting Kevin Burdick, Ryan Mikkelson, Dexton Koch, Gunner Frank, Danny Vang, Johnny Broking, Rick Niemi and Taylor Madrinich. Vang, Broking, Koch, Niemi and Frank couldn’t continue. … Wohlers triggered the second caution on lap eight as well when he spun just inside the infield running 18th. He eventually called it a night after 12 laps. … Mikkelson brought out the yellow on lap 22 when he spun off turn two running ninth. … Reigning Challenge Series champ and reigning WISSOTA Classic winner Dave Mass of East Bethel, Minn., started 14th and finished fifth. … Points leader and 2024 WISSOTA Classic champ Kevin Burdick finished fifth. … James Giossi, who won Wednesday’s $3,000 weekend opener at Gondik Law Speedway in Superior, Wis., didn’t enter Grand Rapids action. … It was the third race of a five-event Labor Day weekend for the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series.
