Jason Hahne takes the checkers at Hamilton County Speedway.
What won the race: Hometown racer Jason Hahne captured his first career Malvern Bank West Series victory after setting fast time and charging from his third starting position for a $3,000 payday at Hamilton County Speedway. Hahne, who overtook race-long leader Corey Zeitner on the 22nd of 30 laps, crossed the finish line 1.039 seconds ahead of runner-up Blair Nothdurft, who started sixth. Zeitner settled for third.
Quotable: "It just means a lot. This racetrack means a lot to me," the hometown winner said. "I mean, I live five blocks away, you know? We try and come here any time we're not running the Late Model. And I just want it to succeed and I want it to have big races like this because it means a lot to me and everybody in this town."
Key notes: Hahne notched his first Malvern Bank West Series victory but he's a three-time East Series winner, most recently on May 25, 2025, at Dubuque (Iowa) Speedway. ... According to DirtonDirt record, the victory marked Hahne's 32nd Late Model victory of his career at Webster City, where he first won in 2004 (his Late Model career began in 2001). ... Third-finishing Corey Zeitner led the opening 21 laps and posted the race's fastest lap. ... Fourth-starting Dylan Thornton retired after 19 laps. ... Seventeen of 22 starters completed the 30-lap feature. ... The East-West tours converge for Friday’s $4,500-to-win Dale DeFrance Memorial at nearby Marshalltown (Iowa) Speedway before Saturday’s $3,000-to-win East Series makeup date at Winneshiek Raceway in Decorah, Iowa.
On the move: Jake Neal of Omaha, Neb., started 13th and finished fourth.
