Winner Ashton Winger flanked by runner-up Donald McIntosh (right) and third-finishing Joseph Joiner (left).
What won the race: Second-starting Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., overcame contact with a lapped car on the 32nd lap, then continued after hard contact with Brandon Overton on the ensuing restart to lead all 44 laps of Tuesday's Roscoe Smith Classic at Senoia Raceway. Winger beat Donald McIntosh by 1.058 seconds for the $7,544 payday, his third career Schaeffer's Southern Nationals victory, all at Senoia.
Quotable: "I’m not really sure what happened there with me, Brandon and Cody (Overton). Brandon slid me and I tried to get turned and pointed as early as I could. I thought I was coming down the hill, but Cody was there and I didn’t want to clip him in the right rear and, man, stuff's just happening so fast," Winger said. "I’m not dumb, the caution was for Brandon and I made contact with him. You know, if that was all on me, I apologize and he’s one of the best guys in the pits. That’s one of the last guys you want get into it with."
Key notes: Ashton Winger snapped Cody Overton's three-race series winning streak (Overton finished fifth). ... Winger knifed through lapped traffic without issue until contact with 10th-running Todd Morrow sent Morrow spinning in turn three on lap 32. ... Brandon Overton used a turn-one slide job to briefly take the lead from Winger on the ensuing restart as Winger crossed him over exiting turn two until they came together hard entering turn three, sending Overton slowing with a flat left-rear tire and heavy left-side damage; Overton retired. ... Winger led the rest of the way unchallenged for his sixth overall feature win of the season and second at Senoia, adding to June 27's Independence Shootout victory on the Hunt the Front tour. ... Winger also won Southern Nationals races at Senoia in 2023 and '25. ... Points leader and polesitter Donald McIntosh slipped to fourth by midrace before reclaiming the runner-up spot on the second lap-32 restart. ... Fourth-starting Joseph Joiner took third from Dalton Cook on lap 33. ... The event honored Hall of Famer Roscoe Smith of Griffin, Ga., the former racer, chassis builder and parts shop owner who fielded cars that carried his famous No. 44 with a trademark checkered-flag roof; Roscoe, the father of Clint Smith, died on Aug. 16, 2025, at the age of 85. ... Clint Smith made his first Late Model start in more than four years and finished 17th. ... The race lasted shy of 20 minutes with 20 cars running at the checkers.
On the move: Dalton Cook of Smiths Station, Ala., started 12th and finished fourth.
