What won the race: Second-starting Layton Sullivan of Gaffney, S.C., led all 25 laps of Saturday's inaugural CT 525 Late Model feature during the 11th annual World Short Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Sullivan crossed the finish line 0.538 of a second ahead of fifth-starting Trent Ivey for the $8,000 payday, his first career World Short Track title and fifth feature win of the season.

Quotable: "I’m really just so proud of our guys and everybody who helps us. We got so many people here with us, I just couldn’t be more proud," Sullivan said. "I had a really good car in that 604 (Crate) feature and we kinda figured out what we needed to do to this one. But the racetrack changed, it got some rubber out there, so that changed the game. I did not expect that, I just did my best to hold them off."

Key notes: Sullivan earned his third Steel Block victory this year, adding to Blue Ridge Outlaw Series wins on May 30 at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Va., and June 6 at Lancaster (S.C.) Motor Speedway. ... Trent Ivey inherited second when Matt Long retired on the 14th lap but never seriously challenged Sullivan over the final 12 circuits in settling for his second runner-up result of the afternoon (Ivey also finished second in the earlier 604 Crate Late Model feature); Long, who trailed Sullivan the opening 13 laps, was credited 27th as the race's second retiree. ... Eighth-starting Jordan Koehler moved into third after Long's race-ending issues. ... Dillon Brown prevailed to finish fourth after a back-and-forth battle with Tyler Leach just after the halfway mark, leaving the pole-starting Leach in fifth. ... The non-stop feature lasted just shy of eight minutes with 23 starters completing the distance.

On the move: Russell Erwin of Beaverdam, Va., started 14th and finished seventh.
