What won the race: Taking command on the 11th lap as Devin Moran slowed with a flat tire, Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., led the rest of Wednesday's FloRacing Night in America Series debut for a $20,000 payday in the Riddell National Bank 50. The reigning series champ took the checkers 0.661 of a second ahead of Ricky Thornton Jr. at the 5/16-mile oval for his series-leading 12th career tour victory.
Quotable: "That's one of the toughest cushions we've had this year, but it was fun to run," Pierce said. "It was so different in each corner of this, this corner almost felt like (Tennessee's Volunteer Speedway). A lot of banking. You kind of had to enter (carefully) and kind of tiptoe your way around (turn) two, and then (turns) three and four you really had to tiptoe that corner, man. That was a treacherous one, but really fun."
Key notes: Bobby Pierce notched his Super Late Model-leading 29th overall victory of the season. ... Pierce finished 10th in his only previous Lincoln Park start in 2012 DIRTcar Summer Nationals action, the last major Super Late Model event held at the facility. ... Runner-up Ricky Thornton Jr. was sizing up Pierce late in the race when a caution gave Pierce clear track. ... Thornton's left-rear tire went flat shortly after the race. ... Devin Moran led the first 10 laps but fell from contention with a lap-12 flat tire. ... Hudson O'Neal had a scary moment in turn three, going briefly airborne after contact with Tyler Erb. ... The 50-lapper was slowed seven times, the most serious when Josh Rice's car ended up atop Ryan Gustin's hood in turn two after Kyle Bronson got sideways on the 15th lap for a red flag. ... The first yellow fell for Cory Lawler's second-lap retirement. ... On the ninth lap, Nicolas Leitzman slowed. ... Moran's flat drew a lap-12 yellow. ... On the 28th lap, 23rd-starting Drake Troutman slowed while running sixth. ... Tristan Chamberlain retired on lap 29. ... Nick Hoffman drew the final caution with a late flat tire on lap 43. ... The 38-minute feature concluded at 9:01 p.m. ... The eleven drivers running at the finish were on the lead lap. ... O'Neal lowered the track record (previously 12.931 seconds set by Frank Heckenast Jr. on June 26, 2012). ... Brenden Smith hopped the turn-four cushion and tumbled in qualifying, rolling several times before landing on his roof; he climbed out seemingly unhurt after track workers turned his car over onto its wheels. ... Lincoln Park, which ran the its richest-ever Late Model event, is the 20th track to host the series.
On the move: Clay Harris of Jupiter, Fla., started 13th and finished a career-best fourth in series action.
