What won the race: Eli Ross of Muskogee, Okla., fired off from the outside front row and fended off late pressure from Scott Crigler in capturing a flag-to-flag victory in Friday's 20-lap Super Dirt Showdown opener at Salt City Speedway. Ross beat Crigler to the line by 1.074 seconds for the $3,000 payday, his ninth Nutrien Ag Solutions Revival Super Dirt Series victory of the season and first on the POWRi Heartland Late Model Tour in the co-sanctioned event.

Quotable: "The draw was pretty key (to winning tonight)," Ross said. "Starting on the front row, I knew the top was gonna be a little better than the bottom if we started there. We kinda got a good start and got the lead coming out of (turn) two."

Key notes: Ross cleared polesitter Tad Pospisil coming out of turn two on the opening lap and raced to his 11th career Revival Series victory. ... Ross recorded his 12th overall feature win of the season and first on the fledgling Heartland Tour. ... Fourth-starting Scott Crigler also powered around Pospisil on the opening lap and nearly pulled alongside Ross in the late going, coming within 0.069 of a second on the 17th lap before his right-front tire made light contact with Ross's left-rear on lap 18, allowing Ross to pull away in the late going. ... Pospisil fought off midrace pressure from Heartland points leader Sawyer Crigler and held on to finish third with the younger Crigler coming home in fourth. ... Seventh-starting Chris Bragg slipped by John Rowland on a lap-13 restart and rounded out the top five. ... Brandon Morton climbed six positions to place sixth. ... The co-sanctioned prelim was slowed twice, the first for Dustin Walker's turn-three spin on lap eight; he retired and was credited with 19th. ... Damian Patocka and Jadyn Friesen tangled in turn two on the 13th lap for the final stoppage, with Patocka retiring after spinning; Friesen continued and finished 16th, the final starter to complete 20 laps. ... Matt Menzie and Gary Kilbourn scratched from the 14-minute feature.

On the move: Mike Petersilie of Hoisington, Kan., winner of the night's modified feature, started 20th and finished ninth.
