Ashton Winger heads for a $15,000 victory at Senoia (Ga.) Raceway.
What won the race: Overtaking polesitter Shane Clanton on the sixth lap, Ashton Winger of Hampton, Ga., led the rest of the way Saturday at Senoia Raceway for his third consecutive Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series victory and a $15,000 payday. Pulling out to a five-second lead by halfway, Winger took the checkers 6.652 seconds ahead of Clanton with 19th-starting Michael Page in third.
Quotable: "My dad's got this thing really good, man," Winger said of his father and crew chief Gary. "It's really maneuverable, and I just owe it to all my awesome help. I'm really thankful. I say it all the time. I know I'm a goofball, but I definitely have way more than I deserve, and I'm real appreciative of it. It's cool to win here at home."
Key notes: Ashton Winger's third straight HTF victory came after his June 12-13 series sweep at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. ... Winger, who has a series-leading six career HTF victories, broke a tie with Zack Mitchell to take the series points lead. ... Runner-up Shane Clanton led the first five laps from the pole, slipped as far back as sixth, but got back to second on lap 44. ... Wil Herrington's car was dragging a broken spoiler on the final restart and eventually slowed and headed to the infield pits. ... The 33-minute feature concluded at 10:43 p.m. .... A red flag dropped on the lap-31 restart when Jake O'Neil tangled with Zack Mitchell entering turn one with his car ending upside down when O'Neil's collected onrushing cars, including Josh Putnam and Dillard Hatchett. No injuries were reported. ... Three caution flags slowed the action, the first on the eighth lap when Todd Morrow spun in turn three; he retired. ... A lap-25 yellow fell when Tyler Millwood got into the turn-three wall. ... Austin Smith struck the turn-two wall on the 31st lap. ... Friday's series event at Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway was cancelled because of weather and equipment issues.
On the move: Third-place finisher Michael Page of Douglasville, Pa., started 19th; Jadon Frame of Decherd, Tenn., started 24th and finished sixth.
