Key notes: The World of Outlaws Late Model Series concludes its Volunteer State doubleheader with Saturday’s 50-lap, $20,000-to-win Tennessee Tipoff at Smoky Mountain Speedway. … Mike Marlar led all but the opening lap in winning Friday’s $12,000 Rocky Top Rumble at nearby Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. It was his first win of the season and his first WoO victory since last July at Ohio’s Sharon Speedway. … Bobby Pierce won last year’s $12,000 Tennessee Tipoff opener before the $15,000-to-win finale rained out. Pierce earned his sixth straight podium finish in WoO competition Friday and enters Saturday with a slim two-point advantage over Nick Hoffman. … Dale McDowell beat Jimmy Owens to win last May’s Hunt the Front Series visit, worth $15,000.
