Mason Zeigler celebrates his second career RUSH Crate Series victory.
What won the race: Powering back around Max Blair on the 27th lap, polesitter Mason Zeigler of Chalk Hill, Pa., controlled the rest of Saturday's 50-lap 35th annual Bill Emig Memorial at Lernerville Speedway. Zeigler beat Dave Hess Jr. to the line by 1.235 seconds for his richest career payday, worth $20,000 and his second career RUSH Crate Late Model Series victory.
Quotable: “I can’t thank my guys enough, it was a long night to say the least. We had no intention of bringing the Super Late earlier this week just cause we didn’t have enough help to do both. When (rain) turned it into a one-night, double features, it was manageable,” Zeigler said. “To get the win here is awesome. We just barely ever race this Crate car and the more we race it, the more comfortable I get it in and the more confident I get in it.”
Key notes: Zeigler's previous RUSH tour victory came Oct. 4, 2024 at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. ... At Lernerville, Zeigler led twice for 38 laps (1-14, 27-50) for his fourth overall feature win of the season, three of them coming in the last 11 days. ... Fifth-starting Max Blair used lapped traffic to pass Zeigler for the lead on lap 15 and held it until Zeigler raced back around him on the 27th circuit. ... Zeigler (fifth) and Blair (third) earned top fives in the night's earlier Firecracker 100 Lucas Oil Series feature. ... Defending event winner Dave Hess Jr. grabbed second from Kyle Hardy on a lap-39 restart and pressured Zeigler momentarily before fading back at the finish. Hardy slipped to fifth. ... Sixth-starting Joe Martin held third from laps 40-45 before giving way to Blair and settling for fourth. ... The race was slowed by three cautions, the final one coming on lap 40 when Alex Ferree spun from 14th; he continued and was credited with 15th, the final starter to complete 50 laps. ... The third yellow flag flew a lap prior after Logan Zarin spun from 15th and impacted the turn-three pit entrance wall; he was OK but could not continue. ... The first stoppage came for a Zack Carley lap-four spin. ... Lernerville track champ Michael Norris retired from 17th on the 30th lap. ... The start of the main event was briefly delayed when the ambulance needed to tend to a medical incident in the parking lot; the race lasted 27 minutes. ... Damian Bidwell of Smethport, Pa., won the night's 15-lap non-qualifiers race, worth $500 courtesy of D&V Jewelers.
On the move: Daryl Charlier of Bulger, Pa., started 24th and finished 11th.
