Hudson O'Neal celebrates his third series victory at Marshalltown.
What won the race: Regaining control when Bobby Pierce slowed Brandon Overton with a turn-one slider on a lap-43 restart, fifth-starting Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., led the rest of Tuesday's FloRacing Night in America Series 50-lapper at Marshalltown Speedway. O'Neal beat Overton to the checkers by 1.005 seconds for the $20,000 payday and his third straight FloRacing Series win at the quarter-mile oval.
Quotable: “Marshalltown Speedway, what a racetrack. We raced all over this thing, we race all over this thing every time we come here,” O’Neal said. “I just figured that the safe bet was (to restart on) the bottom ... and then I get drove by on the top and I was like ‘Gosh dangit, I just lost this race, or lost maybe a chance at this race.' The caution came back out and Bobby (Pierce) threw a Hail Mary (slide job) and kinda got ‘em all stacked up and let me sneak in there and steal one from him.”
Key notes: O'Neal led three times for 32 laps (2-21, 28-31, 43-50) en route to his sixth career FloRacing series victory, half at Marshalltown (2022 with Double Down Motorsports and '23 in the Rocket1). ... O'Neal notched his fourth overall victory of 2025, increasing his total earnings to $57,000. .. He's the fourth winner in four FloRacing tour features. ... Polesitter Brandon Overton led the opening lap, then used a turn-three slider by Bobby Pierce for the lead on a lap-42 restart, before Pierce returned the favor on the ensuing restart, giving control back to O'Neal. ... The sixth-starting Pierce, of Oakwood, Ill., led twice for 16 laps (22-27, 32-41) before settling for third. ... There were six lead changes between Overton, O'Neal and Pierce. ... Oregon's Justin Duty recorded his second consecutive fourth-place finish after also placing fourth in April 26's MARS-sanctioned Garry Swibold Memorial at Peoria (Ill.) Speedway. ... Ryan Gustin gained five spots and finished seventh at his hometown track. ... Chris Simpson rebounded to finish 13th after a lap-43 tangle with Ricky Thornton Jr. sent him spinning in turn three. Thornton finished 15th after pitting with a flat tire. ... Carson Ferguson slowed with a flat right rear to draw the race's second stoppage on lap 42. He was originally placed 17th in the final rundown before series officials credited him with getting his lap back under the lap-43 caution, correcting his finishing position to 14th at the line. ... Tyler Erb spun at the start of the second lap for the first yellow flag. He soldiered to finish 18th. ... The 50-lapper lasted 24 minutes.
On the move: Justin Duty of Molalla, Ore., started 14th and finished fourth.
