What won the race: Sixth-starting Dylan Thornton of Orcutt, Calif., outdueled Blair Nothdurft for control on lap 20 then repelled Jesse Sobbing in the final stages to win Friday's $3,000 Malvern Bank West Series feature at Stuart International Speedway. Thornton led the final 11 laps and took the checkers 0.649 of a second ahead of Sobbing for his first career West Series victory and his fifth overall win of the season.
Quotable: “That (lap seven) pileup over there, I got into the wall. The whole front end’s knocked off of it, it vibrates real bad, it’s definitely ill.” Thornton said. “That was pretty hard to drive there, I’m glad they sorted (the lap-seven scoring confusion) out. (Series officials) were going to send half of us that stopped to the tail and half of us that didn’t. There probably would’ve been a problem with that, but glad they got that figured out.”
