What won the race: Hometown driver Jake O'Neil captured the Late Model portion of Friday's Copper on Dirt weekend opener at USA Raceway for a $1,500 victory over fellow Tucson racer R.C. Whitwell.
Key notes: The series returned to USA Raceway for the first time since 2011. ... The eighth annual Copper on Dirt includes weekend doubleheader for West Coast Shootout competitors. Friday's program is $1,500-to-win, with Saturday's feature paying $2,000 to the winner. ... Wisconsin driver Pat Doar finished sixth. ...
