What won the race: Leading all the way, series points leader Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., dominated the opening feature at Gondik Law Speedway’s Twin Ports Twin 25s event for a $2,000 victory on the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Challenge Series. The polesitting Doar notched his fifth series victory of 2023 and tour-leading 41st of his career in beating runner-up Jake Redetzke by 0.665 of a second.
Quotable: “We changed to something that I haven’t changed in a while and we held ‘em off, so I’m happy,” Doar said.
Key notes: A non-series 25-lapper ran to cap the night with Kevin Burdick getting a $2,000 victory; Doar finished fourth in a race with a 16-car inversion from the first race. ... In the opening 25-lapper, rookie Daniel Bargender lost the fifth spot on the final lap when he spun between turns three and four. ... Darrell Nelson broke on the first lap. ... Aaron Lillo slid into the turn-trhee wall after a lap-eight restart. ... John Kaanta ended up against an infield light pole on the eighth lap. ... James Giossi, the 11th-place finisher in the first 25-lap feature, was awarded a $919 bonus in memory of Brian McLain. … The Superior oval hosts the XR Super Series on Monday for a $20,000-to-win event.
