What won the race: Pole-starting Evan Ellis of Plantersville, Miss., used an outside move past Brian Rickman exiting turn four Saturday to pace the final 12 circuits of Whynot Motorsports Park's $3,000 Paw Paw George Memorial. Picking up his first feature win since 2021, Ellis earned his first career victory with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series.
Key notes: Ellis is the sixth winner in six MSCCS races this season. ... Third-starting Brian Rickman led laps 22-28 before being overtaken by Ellis and finishing 0.489 of a second back. ... Fourth-starting Chad Thrash moved into third on lap 33 and rounded-out the podium. ... Tanner Kellick advanced seven positions and finished fourth. ... Winner of June's $5,000 series stop at Whynot, second-starting Neil Baggett led the first 21 laps before drawing the race's fourth caution when he slowed on lap 26 and pulled off. ... Monte Skinner slowed from third on lap 33 to bring out the fifth yellow, sending Kyle Beard spinning to avoid contact; Beard appeared to lose an engine on the following restart and pulled off before another lap was completed. ... Mikey Kile caused the race's second yellow when he slowed with a flat right rear on lap 20 and called it a night. ... Reigning series champion Bubba Mullins pulled off before completing a lap. ... Entering as the series points leader, Joseph Joiner scratched from all competition when he was unable to unload his car because of a hydraulic door malfunction on his hauler. ... Following a multi-hour delay after of a brief and heavy rainstorm hit the track, Saturday's feature lasted 25 minutes after being slowed by six separate incidents; the race started just before 1 a.m. and ended shortly before 1:30 with five drivers running at the finish.
