Jadon Frame takes the checkered flag to win at Clarksville.
What won the race: Fast qualifier and pole-starting Jadon Frame of Decherd, Tenn., dominated Saturday’s J.R. Knight Memorial at Clarksville Speedway to capture the $6,000 602 Crate Late Model victory. Frame finished 1.510 seconds ahead of eighth-starting Caleb Ashby.
Quotable: “I just love this place ya know, I’m good here,” Frame said. “I just feel like the car was great all night, I couldn’t ask for any better and luckily come out of here with a win."
Key notes: Recording his first 602 Crate Late Model victory of the season at the Tennessee oval, Frame makes it 11 winners there this year. ... Fourth-starting Kyle Courtney rounded out the podium. ... Gavin Schmidt gained three spots and finished seventh. ... Jim Gray started 19th and finished 13th after running as high as sixth. ... The event honored Ricky “J.R.” Lewis Knight Jr., a Clarksville native and member of the racing community since he began driving in 2005; Knight died tragically May 10, 2022 at the age of 35. ... Saturday's feature, one of the highest-paying 602 Crate Late Model events of the year, lasted 49 minutes with 10 drivers completing all 43 laps. ... The 35 entries represented Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi and Florida. ... In the first heat, Kris Lafever of Winchester, Tenn., got into the frontstretch wall and, in a shower of sparks, rode the wall until he hit a pole entering turn turn at which point he flipped while also collecting track points leader Frank Haar of Woodlawn, Tenn. LaFever was dove for the night, while Haar rook a provisional. Neither driver was injured. Cleanup to about 15 minutes.
On the move: Caleb Ashby of Cunningham, Tenn., started eighth and finished second.
Winner's sponsors: Frame’s Joe Denby-owned Capital Race Car carries sponsorship from Denby’s J&J Construction, J&J Merchandise, Twisted Designs Wraps & Apparel, Kountry Kafe, Lightning Lube, Poultry Electric & Pro Hardware, American Racer South and Penske Racing Shocks.
