Bill Leighton and crew relish a $3,000 victory at Central Missouri Speedway.
What won the race: Second-starting Bill Leighton Jr., of La Vista, Neb., took the lead on lap four Saturday and led the final 22 laps at Central Missouri Speedway, narrowly edging Jesse Sobbing for a $3,000 Malvern Bank Super Late Model Series victory. Leighton's 17th career tour victory ended Sobbing's three-race winning streak.
Key notes: Winner of the first three Malvern Bank Series races this season, fifth-starting Sobbing, of Malvern, Iowa, moved into the runner-up position on lap 17 and finished 0.117 of a second behind. ... Sobbing and Pospisil remain the only drivers to secure top-five finishes through the tour's first four races. ... Josh Leonard led the first three laps from the pole before fading to finish sixth. … Series rookie Dylan Sillman scratched for the evening following his heat race. ... Saturday's feature, originally scheduled as the finale of a weekend doubleheader before Friday's opener at U.S. 36 Raceway washed out, was slowed by two cautions and lasted 11 minutes with 16 drivers completing 25 laps.
