What won the race: Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., led all the way Saturday at Ohio Valley Speedway for a $5,000 victory in the fourth annual Keith Barker Memorial. Carpenter took the checkers ahead of Ohio racers Ronnie Mayle and Doug Dodd in the 35-lapper.
Key notes: Carpenter won the Barker Memorial for the third consecutive time. ... Runner-up Ronnie Mayle of Chesterhill, Ohio, was competing for the first time since undergoing early June surgery for a brain bleed caused by an April 15 rollover accident at Ohio Valley. ... The winner's father, Freddie Carpenter, was running second when he retired on lap 22. ... Todd Brennan held the second spot early in the race and fell from contention with a flat left-rear tire. ...
