UNION, Ky. — Updates from Thursday's opening night of the Sunoco North-South 100 weekend, including a pair of split-field $5,000-to-win events on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (results unofficial):

Rained out

Thursday's event was cancelled about 10:20 p.m. ... A heavy 10-minute rainstorm hit the track at 8:30 p.m. and attempts the whip the track and facility into shape for 90 minutes were eventually scrapped and the race cancelled.. ... The rain hit during the modified heats (Late Model heats were scheduled to follow the mod heats). ... Chris Ferguson of Mount Holly, N.C., picked up a $2,034 bonus in memory of Doug Lee by virtue of his quick time. … With 55 cars split into two features, Florence promoter Josh King agreed with the series to add extra starting spots to both races to that everyone transfers through heat races (28 cars in the first feature, 27 cars in the second feature). … The first three heats will set the lineup for the first feature and the final three heats will set the lineup for the second feature. … There are no Late Model consolation races, but the undercard modified division has more than 60 cars entered.
