Jason Welshan is cooled off in victory lane after his $10,040 victory.
What won the race: Second-starting Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., survived several restarts and led all 71 laps to top Saturday night's Crate Racin' USA field in the 11th annual J.T. Kerr Memorial at 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday. He beat Cameron Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., to the finish line by 0.890 of a second for the $10,040 winner's check.
Key notes: Weaver regained second on lap 67 and chased Welshan to the checkered flag. ... Ricky Weiss of Headingley, Manitoba, executed a last-lap pass to finish third. ... Running as high as second place on lap 43, Cory Hedgecock faded in the closing laps and finished fourth. ... CRUSA series point leader Jimmy Thomas completed only 69 laps and finished 20th. ... The first series visit to 411 Motor Speedway since 2017 was slowed by 12 cautions and lasted 57 minutes, with 15 competitors completing all 71 laps.
