What won the race: Winning at his hometown track, Ross Robinson staved off a final-circuit challenge from Trever Feathers of Winchester, Va., with a last-corner crossover move to complete a flag-to-flag triumph in Saturday's 40-lap Mid-Atlantic Championship at Georgetown Speedway. Feathers slid ahead of Robinson in turns one and two on the last lap but couldn't repel Robinson's dramatic turn-four move to earn the $7,000 top prize.
Quotable: "I hit a rut bad one time and I think it messed something up, but if you don't like that finish, holy s---," Robinson said. "That was as hard as I could run, and I kept telling myself, 'No mistakes,' but damn it if I didn't make one on the last lap going into one and it gave him the opportunity. Going into turn three he had position. I just went in there and I had nothing to lose at that point. I give him a lot of credit, because he could've easily come up on me a lot sooner than he did, and he left me room enough to cross him and make a finish like that."
Key notes: Robinson nipped Feathers by 0.149 of a second for his second career Mid-Atlantic Championship victory. He previously claimed the race in 2019. ... Feathers's runner-up finish was his second podium placing in as many career appearances at Georgetown. ... Defending event winner Rick Eckert raced with right-rear damage from an early scrape with Feather but finished third after fending off Robinson's wife, Amanda, who drove her husband's second car. ... Polesitter Jamie Lathroum faded to finish sixth. ... Saturday's feature was slowed by four separate incidents and lasted 24 minutes, with eight competitors completing all 40 laps. … Georgetown's Mid-Atlantic Championship Weekend ends Sunday with a show that includes RUSH Crate Late Models and small-block modifieds.
On the move: David Dill of Camden, Del., started 20th and finished 10th.
