What won the race: Leading three separate times for a total of 14 laps, Gregg Satterlee of Indiana, Pa., outdueled Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., to assume command on lap 35 and paced the final five circuits on his way to winning Friday's Jim Garman Memorial at Thunder Mountain Speedway. He earned $10,000 for his victory in the first half of a Zimmer's United Late Model Series-sanctioned doubleheader at the oval.
Key notes: Satterlee led the race's first lap and then laps 4-12 before gaining control for good on the 35th of 40 circuits. ... The victory was the 11th of Satterlee's career in ULMS action, moving him into a tie for fourth on the tour's all-time win list with Dave Hess Jr. ... Briggs led twice (laps 2-3 and 17-34) before settling for the runner-up position, 0.601 of a second behind Satterlee. ... Moving into third on lap on lap 34, ULMS Southern and Northern Series points leader Max Blair rounded-out the podium. ... After leading laps 13-16, Chub Frank finished fourth. ... Jared Miley, a three-time ULMS winner at Thunder Mountain, finished fifth. ... Michael Norris, the winner of the most-recent ULMS feature at Thunder Mountain in July, completed only 12 laps and finished 21st in Todd Cerenzia's No. 02. ... The Jim Garman Memorial boasted three different leaders and six lead changes. ... Friday's feature, which kicked off Thunder Mountain's ThunderFest weekend, was slowed by nine separate incidents and lasted 46 minutes. Nine competitors completed all 40 laps. ...
