What won the race: Fourth-starting Tyler Stevens of Searcy, Ark., gained the lead on the 18th lap and led the final 37 circuits, cruising to win the Kenneth Mitchell Memorial non-touring Crate Racin' USA feature at Texarkana 67 Speedway on Saturday, earning $5,555.
Quotable: “We struggled in qualifying on Friday night but after that we get our program in gear and did exactly what we needed to do to get the win," Stevens said. "This is the biggest payday of my racing career, and it came in an event that means a lot to me. Jon (Mitchell) and his whole family are like family to me, so to win the first-ever memorial race for his dad is really special.”
Key notes: Time trials and heat races were completed on Friday. ... Fifth-starting Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., advanced three positions to claim the runner-up spot, 3.774 seconds behind Stevens. ... The race honors the late Kenneth Mitchell, a local racer and engine builder (Kenneth’s High Performance). Kenneth's son, Jon Mitchell of Texarkana, Texas, led the first 17 laps before fading to finish third. … Saturday's feature was slowed by only two incidents and lasted 24 minutes, with 12 competitors completing all 55 laps.
On the move: Brandon Ball of Texarkana, Ark., started 12th and finished sixth.
