Neil Baggett takes the checkers at Riverside International Speedway.
What won the race: Powering ahead of Spencer Hughes on the high side with nine laps remaining and pulling away, fourth-starting Neil Baggett of Columbus, Miss., scored his fourth career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory Saturday at Riverside International Speedway. He finished 3.346 seconds ahead of Austin Rettig to claim $3,000 while Hughes, who led the field to a lap-31 restart, slipped back to finish fourth after Rettig got him out of shape in tour four with three laps remaining.
Quotable: "I was riding there at first, I and I felt good up top when I could run against that little bit of brown, but it was so treacherous up there. I was scared to just really pound it ..." Baggett said. "I felt my only shot was on that outside. When we had that restart, I was licking my chops."
Key notes: Baggett's victory was his first on the series since Oct. 2, 2020, at Greenville (Miss.) Speedway. ... Runner-up Austin Rettig led the first lap while Spencer Hughes led laps 2-31. ... Rettig got into Hughes exiting turn four in the final laps, dropping Hughes back with Rettig and Kyle Beard moving into podium spots. ... Series point Logan Martin of West Plains, Mo., finished eighth after getting out of shape early and dropping as far back as 17th, then spinning in turn three. ... Dean Carpenter spun in turn two on the 30th lap. ... Mike Carr, Travis Ashley and Brayden Proctor were in an early turn-two pileup. ... Riverside International hosted $3,000-to-win Comp Cams Super Dirt Series event following the tour’s rainout Friday at Central Arkansas Motor Speedway in Plumerville, which plans to make up its first series visit.
On the move: Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas, started 14th and finished sixth.
