Wil Herrington won Friday's CRUSA main event at Magnolia.
What won the race: Regaining the lead from Cameron Weaver on lap 15, polesitter Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, Ga., led the rest of Friday’s 40-lapper to win the Crate Racin' USA weekend opener at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Herrington earned $2,000 in topping ninth-starting Evan Ellis by 4.578 seconds.
Quotable: “We’ll be back here again (Saturday) and try to stay perfect," Herrington said. "We haven’t worried much about the points and have been racing for wins, which will make the points take care of themselves. We have been blessed this year.”
Key notes: While staying perfect at Magnolia Motor Speedway this season and repeating his 2019 Crate Racin’ USA win there, Herrington scored his fifth series win on the season; he has 13 victories overall. … Cameron Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., slipped to fifth after leading laps 8-14. … Herrington led the first seven laps and the last 26. … Thirteen cars finished the race with six completing all 40 laps. … The race, which took just more than 20 minutes to complete, was slowed by two cautions. … Outside front row starter Tyler Wood of Hohenwald, Tenn., completed 23 laps in finishing 15th. … The series wraps up the weekend with Saturday’s $3,000-to-win program at The Mag.
On the move: Matthew Brocato of Muscle Shoals, Ala., started 16th and finished eighth.
