Jared Miley picked up a $3,000 win at Lernerville on Saturday.
What won the race: Winning a late-race duel over Dave Hess Jr. and Max Blair on the bottom, Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., soared to the $3,000 Steel City Stampede victory at Lernerville Speedway on Saturday night. Miley snuck ahead of Hess Jr. on the final corner as the leader slipped over the turn four cushion.
Quotable: “We were just kind of riding there and you know them couple of cautions came out towards the end and we were able to use them to our advantage on the restart, one time on the high side and one time on the bottom in (turns) one and two,” said Miley. “We just kinda went where everybody else didn’t and it paid off there at the end.”
Key notes: Fifth-starting Mike Pegher Jr. of Cranberry Township, Pa., pulled off lap 23. ... UMP Modified winner Brian Ruhlman of Clarklake, Mich., was the first retiree of the race on the eighth lap. ... Third-place finisher Max Blair won the RUSH Racing Series feature to pocket $2,000. ... Lernerville Speedway hosted the 12th annual Steel City Stampede to close out the Sarver, Pa., oval’s season.
On the move: Hometown driver Michael Norris started 16th and finished sixth.
