Cade Dillard heads to victory Saturday at Revolution Park
What won the race: Making an outside pass around polesitter B.J. Robinson on lap three, Cade Dillard of Robeline, La., led the final 48 laps to win Saturday’s Hooked Up 50 at Revolution Park. Dillard survived a bevy of cautions to finish 2.213 seconds ahead of Robinson.
Quotable: “I was bottoming out a little bit. The track was a little more choppy tonight,” said Dillard. “I was off a little but I had a really good car. I knew at the beginning of the race if we stood a chance I had to get something the first two or three laps. I knew the bottom would be so dominant. We were fortunate enough we hustled around there (on the outside) for a couple of laps and was able to get the lead.”
Key notes: Dillard completed the weekend sweep of the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series-sanctioned action at Revolution Park, a dirt-covered asphalt track in northern Louisiana as he also won Friday’s $3,000 opener. … The race was slowed by eight cautions, which helped keep Dillard out of traffic. … The first caution flew on lap 10 when second-running Robinson of Bossier City, La., made contact with the slowing car of Luke Bennett. As Dillard went by Bennett on the outside, Bennett was trying to slow to pull into the infield just as Robinson decided to try to pass on the inside. Robinson spun, but was awarded his position back. … MSCCS leader Chad Thrash improved two positions to finish fifth. … Ten cars competed all 50 laps. … Tyler Stevens won the $2,000 Crate Late Model feature ahead of Dillard. … Country music artist Dylan Scott leased the track for a 10-week slate this summer. This was the final race.
On the move: Manny Falcon of Pine Grove, La., started eighth and finished fourth.
