What won the race: Polesitter Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, W.Va., led all 40 laps of Saturday's Richard Skidmore Memorial for a $3,000 victory in the first of twin features. Carpenter took the checkers ahead of Colten Burdette in the unsanctioned event hampered by fog.
Quotable: “I didn’t know what to expect here,” said Carpenter. “We’ve been struggling for the last half of this year. We’ve been fighting motor issues, electrical problems, man, just one thing after another. Man I’m pumped up to be in victory lane.”
Key notes: The twice-postponed event was being run as Twin Memorial 40s along with the Red Frederick Memorial with Super Late Models chasing a pair of $3,000-to-win purses. … Fog forced postponement of the second feature at Sept. 19.
Winner's sponsors: Carpenter’s Kryptonite Race Car is powered by an Isner Race Engine and sponsored by Box Seat Productions, The Jones Show, Octane Race Products, Bilstein, Swift Springs and Hoosier by Frye.
Points chase: Entering the event, Billy Holbert of Fairmont, W.Va., had 3,140 points to lead Ace Howdershelt (2,110) and Tracey Cooper (1,940) in the track’s Super Late Model points.
