Chub Frank hugs Bobbie Farr in victory lane after his victory in the Mike Farr Memorial.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., held off Max Blair's last-lap high-side charge in Sunday's Mike Farr Memorial at Eriez Speedway to pick up the $4,100 Zimmer’s United Late Model Series victory. Frank finished by a 0.03-second margin ahead of Blair with Colton Flinner, who led the first 16 laps, in third.
Quotable: “We got beat here the first night on the outside in lapped traffic,” Frank said of Blair’s late charge. “I wasn’t letting that happen again.”
Key notes: Frank, who also won the night's Crate Late Model feature, has six career ULMS victories. ... The race ran caution-free and Frank collected an undetermined amount of lap money. ... "If it wasn't for Mike Farr, I wouldn't be where I'm at today," Blair said of his late friend. ... ULMS stopped at Eriez for the tour’s lone race of the weekend after scheduled visits to New York tracks Freedom Motorsports Park in Delevan (July 3) and Stateline Speedway in Busti (July 4) were cancelled because New York tracks have yet to reopen out of concerns for the Covid-19 pandemic. … The race honored the late shock rep and former co-owner of Genesis Racing Shocks who died in October 2016. ... Eriez is in its 59th season.
On the move: David Scott of Garland, Pa., started 14th and finished seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Frank’s Club 29 Race Car is powered by an Andy Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Sorbera Family Chiropractic, Corry Rubber Corporation, Lake Shore Paving, Allstar Performance and Slavic Shirts and Decals.
Points chase: Entering the event, Doug Eck of Corry, Pa., held a 56 point lead in the ULMS standings over leading tour rookie Wyatt Scott (54).
