What won the race: Second-starting Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa., jumped to the lead on the opening lap and led all 35 circuits for a $3,000 victory in the Lee Stultz Memorial. Covert beat Dale Hollidge and Dominic DeFino to the line by a comfortable margin.
Quotable: "Man this car was awesome tonight," said Covert. "We've been good here all season but just haven't been able to get one. To win here tonight and Potomac last night, I just don't know what to say, all the credit go's to Pete, Roland and all the people who help with this deal, this is truly a team effort."
Key notes: Covert, who also won Friday at Potomac Speedway in Budds Creek, Md., became the track's 10th different winner of 2014. ... The 35-lap feature ran caution-free, took 10 minutes and 25 seconds to complete and saw the checkered flag before 10 p.m. ... DeFino recorded his best career finish at Winchester. ... Making an appearance in Paul Crowl's No. 7 Rocket Chassis, fifth-starting Rick Eckert of York, Pa., set fast time, won his heat race and finished fourth. ... Charles Haydt left a trail of oil on the track during time trials, briefly delaying the program. ... Hometown driver Jonathan DeHaven and Scott Palmer of Greencastle, Pa., each won a Limited Late Model feature. ... The track welcomes the World of Outlaws Late Model Series on Aug. 16.
On the move: Larry Ramsey of Lexington, Va., improved three positions to finish eighth.
