Winner Pat Doar (11) battles runner-up Jake Redetzke (27) early in the Silver 1000 feature event.
What won the race: Seventh-starting Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., grabbed his second Silver 1000 victory Thursday at Proctor Speedway, overtaking polesitter and race-long leader Kevin Eder with eight laps remaining, then holding off Jake Redetzke. Doar's Wollak Construction WISSOTA Challenge Series victory paid $2,750 after his winning outside pass in turn two.
Key notes: Doar previously won the Late Model portion of the Silver 1000 in 2000. ... The upstart Kevin Eder, making his first Silver 1000 start, built a half-straightaway lead early with Jeff Massingill in pursuit. ... Doar slipped by Massingill and Cole Schill to take second spot just past halfway. ... The win was Doar's second WISSOTA Challenge Series victory of the season and his series-leading 33rd career series victory; he broke the tie with John Kaanta at 32 victories apiece. … Terry Lillo drew the lone caution when his hood flew up, blocking his vision early in the race; he later pulled to the infield and retired. ... Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist was on hand in the pits helping Jeff Provinzino with his new Bloomquist Race Car.
Winner's sponsors: Doar’s Rocket Chassis is powered by a Vic Hill Engine and carries sponsorship from Kivi Brothers Trucking, Polar Industries and Speedwerx Performance Exhaust.
Points chase: Before Proctor, A.J. Diemel (727 points) led Pat Doar (698), Jesse Glenz (677), Jake Redetzke (657) and Chad Mahder (648) in the WCS standings.
Current weather: Mostly Clear, 61°F
Car count: 29
Heat race winners: Darrell Nelson, Jeff Massingill, Kevin Eder
Consolation race winners: Jeff Provinzino
Next series race: August 31, Hibbing Raceway (Hibbing, MN) $3,000
