What won the race: Polesitter Russ King of Bristolville, Ohio, outran Dan Angelicchio to win Friday’s Zimmer’s United Late Model Series-sanctioned ninth annual Connor Bobik Memorial Friday at Thunder Mountain Speedway. King finished 0.999 seconds ahead of Angelicchio in winning $3,000.
Key notes: King earned his sixth career Zimmer’s United Late Model Series victory. … He is the ninth different winner in 11 ULMS races this season. … Eleven of the 18 starters finished the race with eight completing all 30 laps. … Three-race winner Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., the tour’s only repeat winner this season, finished fourth. … Matt Lux of Franklin, Pa., failed to start his heat and scratched from the feature. … The race honored the son of photographer Derek Bobik, who passed away in 2011 after losing his battle with brain cancer. … The July 3 ULMS rainout at Thunder Mountain was rescheduled for Aug. 16.
