What won the race: Outside front row starter Don Shaw of Ham Lake, Minn., cruised to another dominating victory on the Southwest Dirt Racing Association tour, winning Saturday’s main event at Canyon Speedway Park by 4.786 seconds ahead of runner-up Brad Williams. Polesitter Bruce Duckett finished third.
Key notes: Shaw earned $700 for his third SWDRA victory of the season and 12th of his career. … Shaw moved into sixth on the SWDRA's all-time win list. He’s just two wins shy of tying two-time defending champion John Cornell of Phoenix, Ariz. (15 wins) for third, while modified aces R.C. Whitwell (14) of Tucson, Ariz., and Ricky Thornton Jr. (13) of Chandler, Ariz., lie just ahead. … Two drivers weren't able to start the main event: Bud Grossenbacher and Jesse Tellez. ... The event marked the first of seven scheduled SWDRA visits to Canyon in 2019, the next on April 20.
