What won the race: Ninth-starting Rhett Carter of Blackshear, Ga., took the lead on lap 16 and paced the final 34 laps to win Saturday’s Showdown in Savannah finale at Oglethrope Speedway Park. Topping Travis Pennington and Josh Bishop in the 50-lap feature, Carter’s rally was worth $5,000. It marked his fourth win at OSP this season.
Quotable: “We had to start further back in the field than I would’ve liked in both features, but we showed a lot of speed in both races,” said Carter. “In Saturday night’s (finale) I had a really good racecar and was able to get to the front in a hurry.”
Key notes: Carter picked up his seventh win of the season and 75th of his career. … “We hung the door from my car in the pub to commemorate my 75th-career Late Model win,” said Carter. … Friday's scheduled $2,000-to-win feature was rained out just after heats, setting up a doubleheader on Saturday. ... Carter finished 12th in Saturday’s first feature, which was won by Mark Whitener.
Winner's sponsors: Carter’s winning Rocket Chassis is powered by Wildcat Performance Engines and sponsored by Swamp Fox Insurance Agency.
