What won the race: Payton Looney of Republic, Mo., overtook polesitter Gavin Landers on the third lap Saturday at Springfield Raceway and grabbed his first career Comp Cams Super Dirt Series victory. Looney earned $3,000 in taking the checkers ahead of 13th-starting Jack Sullivan, the series points leader.
Key notes: Looney led 38 laps after Gavin Landers led the first two. ... Looney won his heat race from the tail, which helped him earn an outside front-row starting spot. ... Feature runner-up Jack Sullivan rebounded from two flat tires in heat action. ... Scott Crigler scratched from the feature lineup. ... Kyle Beard got the Henryette Ford Hard Luck award after colliding with Logan Martin in a top-five battle during the main event; Martin slowed on the 20th lap and Beard couldn't avoid him. ... The only other caution came on the eighth lap for Blonde Bomber Mitchell.
On the move: Hunter Rasdon of Jonesboro, Ark. started 15th and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Looney's Rocket Chassis is powered by a Scott Bailey Racing Engine and sponsored by Berger's Marina, Atnip Enterprises, Race to Save, Enhanced Network Solutions, Supermoon Graphics, Midwest Sheet Metal, Swift Springs, Dynamic Drivelines, SRRE and Penske Racing Shocks.
