Jackie Boggs heads to victory at Portsmouth Raceway Park.
What won the race: Leading all but the first lap, Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., earned $5,000 Saturday at Portsmouth Raceway Park in the 24th annual Fred Dillow Memorial.
Quotable: "The whole Dillow family works so hard at putting this race on and putting extra money all through the field; they do a lot for racing," winner Jackie Boggs said. "To keep that Fred legacy going is just awesome."
Key notes: Runner-up Colten Burdette debuted a new Rocket Chassis. ... Polesitter Robbie Lewis led the first lap in a race pushed late by a wet Saturday. ... Boggs, who used a motor loaned by Brandon Fouts, was among few drivers avoiding troubles. ... The Wheelersburg, Ohio-based Conley Motorsports team had a rough night with father Delmas flipping in his heat and son R.J. going for the similar ride in the feature. ... R.J.'s brother Rod was running third in the main event when a flat tire knocked him from contention. ... On lap 27, second-running Shannon Thornsberry had a flat tire, too; Thornsberry actually went past Boggs but the move was erased by a caution ... The event honored the late driver who compete in Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and Pennsylvania until 1989. He died in 1990 after a two-year bout with leukemia. ... Thornsberry earned $1,077 for fast time in an event where a race-record 110 sponsors paid out multiple bonuses.
