Lonnie Parker Jr. tunes up before his victory at Tucson.
What won the race: Lonnie Parker Jr. of El Mirage, Ariz., scored his second Championship Dirt Motorsports victory of the season at Tucson (Ariz). International Raceway, collecting $1,200 for his efforts. Parker won after leader Ricky Thornton Jr., lost a spark plug wire, causing engine problems that forced him to retire.
Key notes: Parker has recorded podium finishes in seven straight CDM races. ... His previous Tucson victory came May 17. ... The event was scheduled as the first of two on the weekend, but Saturday's action was rained out. ... CDM competitors return to Tucson Aug. 23, Sept. 6, Oct. 11 and Nov. 29-30.
