Doug Drown gets up to speed before his Thunder Mountain victory.
What won the race: Doug Drown of Wooster, Ohio, earned $3,000 Friday at Thunder Mountain Speedway for his first career Zimmer's United Late Model Series victory. Drown took the lead from Doug Eck on the 14th lap and led the rest of the way.
Key notes: Drown survived two-lap shootout to the checkers after a late caution. ... Drown had a 1.169-second margin of victory over runner-up Mike Maresca. ... Series points leader Max Blair was running eighth when he retired on the 14th lap after being caught up in a wreck with Greg Oakes. ... Eleven drivers completed 30 laps.
