What won the race: Fresh off his 10th Knoxville Nationals victory in the sprint division, Donny Schatz of Fargo, N.D., raced to his third career NLRA victory in the Late Model division Thursday at Red River Co-op Speedway. Schatz overtook Don Shaw on the 10th lap and pulled away to win four seconds over Cole Schill in the fourth annual Can-Am Late Model Challenge.
Key notes: Donny Schatz's previous NLRA victories came at River Cities Speedway in 2013 and '14. ... Don Shaw led the first 10 laps but lost second after a lap-17 restart, faded and retired with two laps remaining. ... Polesitter Mike Balcaen, the track's weekly division points leader, ran in the top five until the late stages as he dropped out of contention. ... NLRA action continues Friday at River Cities Speedway and Saturday at Devils Lake Speedway.
On the move: Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., started 15th and finished fifth.
