What won the race: Jeremy Wonderling of Wellsville, N.Y., took advantage of Mike Pegher, Jr.’s flat tire on lap 14 and went on to win the Bill Emig Memorial for his second victory of the season and first-ever at Tri-City. Wonderling collected $2,000 for his win in the 30-lap main event. Pegher rallied back to finish second.
Quotable: "It was good to win, but Mike Pegher had us covered on that one," said Wonderling. "I see he had a flat tire and still finished second so I'm pretty sure he was the fastest one here, but I'll take them however I can get them. I knew if I moved John (Waters) up a little into the loose stuff he'd spin his tires, but I can't be too mean to him because I race him all the time and we're good friends. I had a softer tire than everyone so I was just trying to stay on the bottom. When Mike got by me I was just trying to maintain then I saw him pull off and thought 'I need to make the best of this while he's gone’.”
Key notes: Wonderling won by a margin of 1.864 seconds. … Pegher jumped into the lead on the first lap and built a straightaway advantage by lap 10. … Pegher pulled to the pits under a lap-14 caution to change his flat, handing the lead to Wondering. … Pegher was back to fourth by lap 16. He passed Bryce Davis for third on a lap-23 restart and caught John Waters for second on lap 26. … J.J. Mazur, who is in his first year on the RUSH Tour, recorded his best finish in fifth. … Jamie Wrightsman's sixth-place finish was his best effort since a fifth at Expo Speedway on July 15, 2015. … The race was originally scheduled for June 18, but postponed a week due to rain. … It was the first of two RUSH visits to Try-City this season.
On the move: Michael Duritsky, Jr., finished seventh after starting 12th.
