What won the race: Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn., continued his red-hot start to the 2017 season by capturing the United Crate Racing Alliance opener at I-75 Raceway. Hedgecock led all 40 laps to earn $2,500 with runner-up Jason Manley finishing 1.307 seconds behind.
Quotable: “This start to the year has just been incredible, and I have to thank all my sponsors, my team, and my fans for making it possible,” Hedgecock said. “I love any chance that I get to go to I-75 Raceway. That place has been awfully good to me and really fits my driving style.”
Key notes: Hedgecock has five victories in seven 2017 appearances in Super, Limited and Crate Late Models. ... Ten drivers completed 40 laps. ... Because of approaching weather, heat races were scrapped with everyone starting the 40-lap feature. ... Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn., piloted a MasterSbilt owned by Danny and Susan Tallent Yoder.
Winner's sponsors: Hedgecock's Rocket Chassis is sponsored Transport One, Cushman, VooDoo Technology, Valley Transport, K&P Used Cars, Eagle Racing Engines, Mikeandgina.biz, Keyser Mfg., Timeless Memories Photography, Renegade Fuel and ET Motorgear.
