Andy Picklesimer inherited a $10,000 victory at Southern Raceway.
What won the race: Andy Picklesimer of Ooltewah, Tenn., picked up a career-high $10,000 victory at Southern Raceway after Cody Smith's car failed postrace technical inspection. Picklesimer, whose father saw him win for the first time, had crossed the line 0.596 seconds behind Smith in the 100-lapper for Crate Late Models.
Quotable: "If all this racing stuff ended tomorrow and we didn't win another one, I would be happy because this one was special with my Dad being able to be here," Picklesimer said.
Key notes: Cody Smith was disqualified for using illegal fuel. ... Picklesimer started outside the front row. ... Picklesimer's weekend was in doubt when he was missing parts for his race car, but his father made the trek from Tennessee to bring the parts. ...
