Jackie Boggs smiles in victory lane after his $5,000 victory.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Jackie Boggs of Grayson, Ky., took the early lead from outside polesitter R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, and maneuvered through traffic for a $5,000 Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week victory at Atomic Speedway. Conley, the runner-up with his brother Rod in third, led the first two laps and Boggs led the final 38.
Quotable: "It's always good to win a race here, especially with R.J. and Rod (Conley) chasing you down," Boggs said. "I know these guys know this racetrack as good as I do, and they'll keep you very busy. Don't ever count 'em out."
Key notes: Boggs was also the winner of the July 27 Buckeye event at Atomic; he tops the two-year tour's all-time win list with four victories. ... Eddie Carrier Jr. slammed into the turn-three during hot laps; he was able to walk away from the car, but the team's Facebook page later reported he suffered a broken arm. ... Paul Stubber ran third early but ended up 12th. ... Saturday's event was originally slated as the Buckeye tour's finale, but the series will move to Brushcreek Motorsports Park on Sunday after Friday's program was rained out.
On the move: Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, Ohio, improved from the 11th starting spot to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Boggs drives a Swartz Race Car sponsored by Central Star Drilling, McCoy Brothers Logging, Impact Race Gear, Reno & Sons Lawn Care and Quest Energy.
Points chase: With his third-place finish, Rod Conley (875) moved into the series points lead followed by Zack Dohm (875) and Doug Drown (844) with one race remaining.
