Tim Manville heads for his first career MARS victory at West Plains.
What won the race: Winning a battle of slide jobs in the final eight laps, Tim Manville of Highland, Ill., edged away from polesitter Justin Wells of Aurora, Mo., for his earn his career MARS DIRTcar Series victory at Legit Speedway Park. Manville started mid-pack and raced to a $3,000 victory over the track's weekly points leader.
Quotable: "I was wondering when it was going to happen. Every time we come down here or come race with MARS in general, I always think 'When are we going to knock off our first MARS wins?' " Manville said in victory lane. "Tonight was it."
Key notes: Manville has multiple weekly victories on the season; his most recent came at Federated Raceway at I-55 on July 16. ... Runner-up Justin Wells had to make repairs to his TNT Race Car after a rough Friday night at Monett Speedway. ... Jesse Stovall competed in a new Black Diamond chassis and won a heat race despite a late tangle with Scott Crigler. ... Wells and Stovall ran side-by-side for several laps mid-race with Stovall inching ahead to lead only lap 21. ... MARS competitors will return to the track for a doubleheader season finale in September.
