Terry Phillips (75) fought off Jesse Stovall (00) for his Longdale victory.
What won the race: Turning back several champions, polesitter Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., collected his 88th career MARS DIRTcar Series victory in his Longdale Speedway debut for a $3,000 payday. Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, was second while Friday winner Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, finished third.
Quotable: "Pretty good run for us. We've never been here before and we know what to do next time maybe to get a little bit better," Phillips said. "Thanks to my guys. We was in Iowa City last night (after a rainout) and drove all the way here to try to make it, and didn't make it. So I'm glad to be here. It's beautiful ... I've never been here, but it's a beautiful facility."
Key notes: Phillips had his hands full with Jesse Stovall, Sanders and Gustin in the second half of the race ... Stovall pulled briefly ahead of Phillips exiting turn two near halfway, but then slipped to third behind Phillips and Sanders and never officially led a lap. He was later caught up in a lap-26 accident when a slower car spun high in turn three . ... MARS action was part of the second annual Walleye Rodeo Weekend and Car Show. ... Longdale is one of four Oklahoma tracks that the MARS tour visits this season; the others are Outlaw Motorsports Park near Muskogee; Salina Highbanks Speedway; and Tri-State Speedway in Pocola.
Winner's sponsors: Phillips drives Black Diamond Chassis powered by an Andy Durham Engine and sponsored by Andy's Frozen Custard, Mesilla Valley Transportation, Don Babb Motorsports, New Vision Graphics, Integra and Keyser Mfg.
Points chase: Following the Longdale doubleheader, Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., has 608 points to lead Payton Looney (494) and Justin Asplin (491).
