Bobby Pierce's team celebrates his ALMS weekend sweep at Fairbury.
What won the race: Emerging from a tight battle with veterans Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., and Kevin Weaver of Gibson City, Ill., 17-year-old Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., edged away in the final 10 laps to win by nearly five seconds and complete the weekend sweep of ALMS action. Weaver, who inched ahead to led the 21st lap after Erb led the first 20, was second with Erb third.
Key notes: Pierce now has nine victories in his last 15 starts overall, a stretch since early April that included a five-race winning streak. It was his 10th victory overall this season, putting him just two wins away from matching his Super Late Model single-season career high of 12 triumphs in 2013. ... Pierce started from the third row. ... Pierce also won Friday in ALMS action at Kankakee, Ill. ... Jay Parks and Ryan Unzicker scratched from the feature.
On the move: Weaver, a former track champion at FALS, rallied from the sixth row for a runner-up finish; hometown driver Scott Bull from from 18th to seventh.
Winner's sponsors: Pierce's Bob Pierce Race Car has a Pro Power Racing Engine and sponsorship from Champion Spark Plugs, M&M Painting and Construction, Murphy Trucking, Petersen Aluminum and the Pierce Posse.
Points chase: Pierce's further widens his cushion in ALMS West point standings; Rusty Schlenk of Weston, Ohio, sat atop ALMS East standings prior to the event, which he did not enter.
