Hudson O'Neal celebrates his fifth career Volusia victory.
What won the race: Pole-starting Hudson O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., cruised to a second-round victory Tuesday in the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, earning $7,000. O'Neal wasn't seriously challenged in winning his fourth race of the young season and first with his regular SSI Motorsports. Cody Overton, 1.248 seconds back in the 25-lapper, was second for the second straight night and Overton's older brother Brandon saw his four-race winning streak end.
Quotable: "We knew that it was going to be a little bit of a tire game," O'Neal said, "and we were lucky to be able to get out to the lead there early. And then it started to lane up down here in (turns) one and two especially and we were just lucky to have good track position."
Key notes: Hudson O'Neal's previous three victories of 2026 came in his part-time Rumley Engineering ride. ... O'Neal notched his fifth career Volusia victory. ... Monday's winner Brandon Overton finished 17th; he entered the event with four straight Speedweeks victories among three tracks. ... A single caution slowed the action on the ninth lap for Max Blair's flat tire. ... The track was regroomed between heat and consolation races, but passing remained difficult in the main event. ... Fast qualifier Blair Nothdurft rebounded from engine problems the previous night, but faded from the front row in the feature. ... Ethan Dotson arrived at Volusia for action after a lengthy flight back from New Zealand, where he was competing in offseason action. ... Former WoO regular Max McLaughlin piloted the Glenn Styres Racing entry. ... Highway 40 was closed Tuesday evening west of the track because of smoke from an apparent blaze. ... The DIRTcar Nationals continue Wednesday with three Super Late Model semifeatures paying $5,000-to-win.
On the move: Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, Ill., started 17th and finished 10th.
Winner's sponsors: O’Neal’s SSI Motorsports Longhorn Chassis was powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and carries sponsorship from Wheeler Metals, Professional Concrete, Dyno One, Sub-Surface of Indiana, Big River Steel, O'Neal's Salvage & Recycling, Merrill Bonding, Bob & Tammy Burton, Bobcat of Batesville, Indiana USSSA Fastpitch, West Side Tractor Sales, Bilstein Shocks, Sunoco Race Fuels and Midwest Sheet Metal.
